After giving the 2002 Green edition a 20th birthday, Nike celebrates the Yellow AF1 'West Indies' moving out of its teenage years with a re-issue. Originally released to honour New York's West Indian Day Parade – which takes place on the first Monday in September – in total Nike made four versions of the West Indies AF1 between 2002 and 2005.
This year Nike pays tribute to the 2003 version. The shoe is largely unchanged from the first release, with the same white uppers accented with University Gold. The heels wear the correct embroidery and even the lining is the same big mesh Nike used on a bunch of AF1s during the early aughts. The only real identifying feature is the anniversary tongue label.
